My Approach to Helping

I believe that healing from mental illness and trauma is a process that takes time, patience, and compassion for yourself. As a queer clinician, I am deeply committed to helping build a world where everyone is able to live a life free from oppression in all its forms and which celebrates individuality. In my personal and professional life, I place great value on creating equity in the communities I participate in and I always seek to maintain curiosity about the world around me. My philosophy for therapy is that as a client, you should be provided space to guide the work, fostering self-empowerment, identity development, and discovering what will work for you. My goal is to create a partnership with my clients while bringing in my knowledge about psychological care. I believe that any journey of healing starts from within, though this is not a path that you have to travel alone. In my therapy work, I strive to create a non-hierarchical space that allows for the full expression of every individual I work with. The principles of anti-racism, existentialism, and intersectionality are of central importance in my clinical work. I practice from a Relational Psychodynamic lens while incorporating a diverse range of theories on an as-needed basis. I place great value on creating an affirming environment and listening to the lived experiences of my clients. I have worked with children, adolescents, and young adults in a variety of clinical settings, including schools, private practice, residential facilities, and the juvenile justice system. Throughout this work, I have learned of the important role that humbleness and flexibility plays in providing quality care. Everyone’s journey through life is unique, and as such, your therapy should be tailored to meet your needs.
