My Approach to Helping
I am passionate about creating an environment of safety and security, where clients are able to feel supported and understood while we identify and strengthen untapped sources of resilience. With care and curiosity, we will explore and heal the often hidden emotional wounds inflicted by our experiences, families and society. Working together, we will identify and change old patterns of feeling and thinking and empower your evolving, authentic self.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for 20 years as a creative in the magazine industry. I have found this experience to be especially helpful in my work with issues surrounding career changes as well as artists who are managing the unique stressors of the entertainment industry and corporate culture in general.
My therapeutic process integrates solution-focused, strength-based, psychodynamic and evidence-based modalities that are tailored to the unique needs of each client. My training includes Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (Level 2), Collaborative Couple Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and Motivational Interviewing for clients who want to explore and change their substance use.
I believe that how we express our sexuality and gender deserves celebration, not just tolerance, and my approach is LGBTQIA+, Polyamorous and Kink Affirmative. I have extensive experience with mixed-orientation couples, consensual non-monogamy and non-traditional relationship structures.
I speak fluent Spanish and practice in both English and Spanish.
