My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

The purpose of Psychotherapy is to facilitate reconciliation of the effects of negative socialization, environment, trauma, or relationships which affect an individual's daily functioning. Psychotherapy is great because it provides a window into the darkest and vulnerable parts of our soul and psyche. Guiding an individual through their stress, anxiety, defiance, anger, trauma, or depression creates an amazing and endearing bond. It is imperative that a therapist allows an environment where the stigmas of a person's reality are alleviated during the session. Allowing the individual to foster growth, understanding, and insight in order to diminish the effects of their particular circumstances.
