My Approach to Helping
As a hispanic male, I understand the unique issue of identity exploration and struggling to find a place to fit in.
Alexander Montero is a bilingual (English, Spanish) Licensed Clinical Counselor (LCC) with more than 5 years of experience in the mental health field. He works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families in addressing their challenging adjustments to life. Alex specializes in depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship issues, couples dilemmas, LGBTQIA+ topics, and major life transitions.
Alexander completed his Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. He also attended Texas A&M University in College Station where he earned his Bachelors' degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. Alexander utilizes multiple treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy (PCT), motivational interviewing (MI), solutions-focused therapy (SFT), and existential therapy (ET).
It can sometimes feel strange to feel or explain what is going on, but counseling gives you the opportunity to feel safe. Seeking out help makes you strong, and gives you the power to face your fears. This process may feel intimidating, but Alexander strives to make counseling fit each person's unique experience.
