My Approach to Helping
As a client, you will see that my passion is in working with those who have experienced trauma, big or small. What I mean by this is that when most people think about trauma, they tend to think about those who have been exposed to war, combat, natural disasters, physical or sexual abuse, terrorism, and catastrophic accidents (Big T). These can be profound and debilitating to an individual. Little T, can be an accumulation of smaller “everyday” or less pronounced events (divorce, financial struggles, conflict with loved ones, etc.) that can still be traumatic to someone, and can still interfere in everyday functioning.
My personal style relies on the belief that clients have the ability to heal themselves, and that you remain the true expert on yourself. I believe in providing a positive therapeutic relationship that my clients can use for their own personal growth, and my approach pulls from many theories including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Trauma-Informed Therapy (including EMDR).
