First, I want to acknowledge the strength it takes to seek support when you are suffering. You are not alone and it is not your fault. Often times when things aren't going well, people turn inward out of shame. Therapy can be a space where that shame can be normalized and titrated. Among other perspectives, I utilize compassion-focused therapy as a framework. I view all people as inherently good with challenges arising from our early relationships which served as blueprints for how we interact with ourselves and others. Patterns of behavior and interacting that may have been useful at one stage of an individual's life may no longer be working.

I enjoy working with people from a stance of acceptance, curiosity, and loving-kindness to help seek an understanding of those patterns and then allowing for a conscious choice toward more effective ways of relating that will bring about a greater sense of connection and well-being.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Several studies have found the number one factor in effective psychotherapy treatment outcome is the quality of the therapeutic relationship in that the client felt fully heard, seen, and understood. For that reason, finding the right therapist is all about finding the right fit where you will feel fully attuned to and, in turn, feel comfortable sharing and exploring all of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, regardless of the therapist's theoretical orientation.

Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work

My work is guided by: compassion-focused therapy, interpersonal neurobiology,emotion-focused therapy, attachment theory, mindfulness and self-compassion practices, developmental psychology, psychodynamic theories, and cognitive-behavioral interventions. Ultimately, I tailor treatment to the needs and goals of each client in order to maximixe outcomes.
