My Approach to Helping

What if. . .? What if you didn’t have to feel as though you had to hold all of those balls up in the air by yourself? What if those stomach dropping, throat clenching, heart racing thoughts didn’t have to keep you up at night? What if you, once and for all, figured out how to manage those difficult emotions rather than feel overwhelmed by them? What if your history didn’t have to equal your future story?

I’ve got you covered! I work with my clients to fully understand how their histories got them to this place of challenge—not to dwell on past events, but to use that information to connect the dots, figure things out, and design a new story going forward. I can give you the tools to manage those difficult emotions, but I can also teach you to listen to what those emotions are telling you, so that you know how to fix what’s not working and move forward in ways that do. I’m there to walk you through the challenges with honesty, practicality, and enormous care as you learn to use the inner resources that you already have and find some new ones to fill in the challenge areas.

Whether you’re that person that has always been there for everyone else but never quite able to get her own needs met, that individual that hasn’t had the best luck in finding trusted others and as a result feels alone, or someone that is just feeling like the overwhelm and challenging emotions are just coming to a head—I can help!

If you are part of a couple that just can’t seem to find their way back to one another or a parent and teen that aren’t seeing eye to eye—I can guide you toward finding or re-finding the love and supportive relationship that you ache for.

If you’re a teen that feels overwhelmed with the fact that life seems to moving at the speed of light and you’re feeling a bit lost—I can help you sort out what’s happening, learn life-long tools to settle that overwhelm, and realize the relationships, confidence, and emotional stability that you need to feel good and move forward in amazing ways.

I was once asked, “If you could have any super power, what would it be?” After thinking long and hard, I answered, “I’d wish for the power to show others the amazing light that shines within.” All these years later, I LOVE that that’s what I get to do as my profession! Give me a call so that we can chat about how I can help. Let me help you design your new story!

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

The decision to begin therapy can be daunting! First and foremost, it can seem really difficult knowing which therapist to choose, and on top of that the realization hits that you're going to need to trust this person with some of your deepest, scariest, andor emotionally challenging thoughts. If that isn't enough, you might be questioning whether the return on investment of time, money, and emotion will even be worth it. Many feel weak or damaged when considering getting some help. I mean, we're all supposed to just know how to do it all ourselves, right?
Wrong!

We all see our world through a lens built on the experiences that we've had all of our lives. Our relational patterns, our habits, our emotional triggers, each and every thought we have, is seen through that fixed lens. It's hard to get unstuck from that lens by ourselves.

Working with a trained therapist can be the first step in seeing the yourself, your relationships, and the possibilities in new ways. Finding and working through old material and ways of thinking that have felt so much a part of us gives us our best chance for making lasting changes to what's not working in our lives and in our relationships, giving us an opportunity toward a more meaningful and rewarding quality of life. The return on investment on that is priceless.
