I believe that when you understand how your brain works it becomes easier for you to understand why you think, feel, and do the things you do, and how to make the changes in your life you want to experience. Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

The anxiety and depression that most people experience is NOT to the result of a psychiatric diagnosis, rather, it is due to living in the modern world. Many people seek therapy not because there is something wrong with them, but instead to learn skills to better manage the environments they interact in, and to improve communication skills in their interpersonal relationships. For high-functioning individuals therapy provides a space to identify obstacles that are blocking the growth they want and explore ways to get around those obstacles to achieve the results they seek. Therapy can also provide a place to work through shame, guilt, and other emotional pains that people have been carrying for years, but are finally ready to process through and move on to become the best version of themselves that they can be. Therapy can be about personal growth and evolution and not always about dysfunction.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

The duration of therapy depends on each individual's needs. Some people find the skills or understanding they need in a few sessions, while others participate in therapy longer as they are going through a difficult time or processing deeper longstanding issues.
Most people find that the frequency of weekly sessions brings the best results initially. Then, after some improvement has been experienced, moving to every other week and then to monthly sessions to maintain the gains achieved. Whereas, individuals with busy schedules often find the scheduling of longer sessions every other week may be beneficial for them. Together we can devise a schedule that works best for your needs.
