Relationship issues are my passion and my specialty. I see mostly couples who want to feel more understood, more valued and connected. Together we work through the stuck places toward improved communication and trust.
Have you noticed that your reaction to your partner during conflict may be the very thing that sets them off: one pursues for responsive engagement, and the other is ducking for cover? Often, the way we try to get our needs met, or defend ourselves, gets exactly the reaction we were hoping NOT to get from our partner! Your feelings are clues that lead to your deepest needs. I'll follow them with you to see where they lead, and help partners communicate in a way he or she can understand. Together we'll work toward getting both your needs met.
I draw upon a number of humanistic, experiential, and family systems modalities. I also incorporate attachment, recovery and growth-oriented models. I am an avid student of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and I am in the process of obtaining certification through ICEEFT.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
When I work with a couple, I often wish I could have gotten them to start couples therapy sooner. I understand that stigmas about therapy and the expense can be deterrents. But so often, people call me when they are in crisis, or worse, when one or both are giving up. My job - and my clients' - would be so much easier if people felt they could reach beyond themselves for help when they first started to feel disconnected from their partner. The growing distance can lead to mistrust and more bad feelings, and I wish I could save people having to go through all that frustration and pain.
