More Info About My Practice
One of the main reasons people seek therapy is for help in their relationships.
Trust is always the foundation in any relationship. Many things over time can erode the trust including addiction, infidelity, unresolved issues from one's past and more. One of the things we will do, is look at what may be keeping you stuck in your relationships and ways to move forward.
Please note: I do not accept insurance.

A note on working on one's trauma
There is a lot of talk today about trauma in the mental health field.
When we say trauma, we are talking about the way you remember an event or experience. It is clear that what is traumatic for one person may not be for another.
We now understand that our pasts, and particulalry our childhoods influence how we are today as adults. The old maxim of forgive and forget, or just keep moving forward are no longer helpful.
People who push through in their lives, and often make something great of his or herself- often still have this nagging inside that something is still not right, or he or she is not good enough.
Taking a look at what happened in the past is a big part of being able to move forward. However there are limits to this as well. We want to address, process, understand and grieve what may have been traumatic for us in the past. At the same time, we don't want to be stuck focusing only on all the bad things which happened to us.
A stronger approach may be to look at your trauma, and also notice how you were able to survive those difficult times and your strengths. Sometimes looking at the strengths or how you survived comes after acknowledging the pain suffered. Understanding where you have been in your life and acknowledging both the good and the bad- can help you clarify who you are today and where you want to go.
