I believe that it takes trust, respect, responsibility, and hard work to make counseling work. We start out the session with sharing some information, what areas you would need assistance with, past, present, and future goals, likes and dislikes, hobbies, and things you would like to try. This information will help in assigning homework.

Then we will create a plan and work on your goals together. My goal is to make you feel comfortable in my office and provide a safe place for you to talk about anything you need to.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love helping people learn about themselves, finding their inner spark, finding their personal goals and working towards bettering themselves, having that "AHA" moment during our sessions and when working on the homework that is assigned.

My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to be a guide. I will guide you through the process of therapy, and assist you when necessary. I will be a friend, someone you can bounce ideas off-of and provide an opinion without telling you what to do with your life. I will assist you in making those decisions by asking questions and providing thought provoking homework.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

The duration and frequency of therapy depends on the person and their therapist. In my practice, we usually meet weekly for about 2-3 months then we will go to every 2-3 weeks between appointments. If you use insurance some have a limit on the number of appointments that you can be seen each year. So we will adjust to every other week after the first month. For groups we will meet weekly for 2 hours a week for 10 weeks.
