My Approach to Helping
Teresa's professional goal is to serve as a resource and point of intervention in the facilitation of healthy self-efficacy, healthy self-concept and healthy relationships. She is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive place to explore concerns and gain the tools necessary in pursuit of the very best Self. It is Teresa's belief that through increased self-awareness, people are empowered to change, and empowered people are positioned to take responsibility for their own lives, emerging with greater clarity, purpose, and happiness.
Teresa received her Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling at Seattle University. In addition to private practice, she is contracted at Youth Eastside Services and Far West Family Services, where she provides therapeutic services for adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups, in the areas of relationships, communication, depression, grief/loss, anxiety, trauma, and self-harm.
Teresa's therapeutic orientation is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy. She also draws from other modalities, techniques and interventions: bio-psycho-social, solution-focused, narrative, existential therapeutic orientations. Teresa has a special interest in working with issues that arise from power inequity, substance abuse, domestic violence, life transitions and other stressful life challenges.
