My Approach to Helping

Based on 35+ years of experience as a therapist, I've learned that my relationship with the client is the fundamental tool I use. Showing my caring, empathy, and acceptance of the client is paramount. As I get to know the client, I utilize various tools, including Cognitive-behavioral, historically-oriented insight, stress-management, transactional analysis, hypnotherapy, assertiveness and social skills training, I share my ideas about the process with the client, which instills hope and promotes collaboration. A sense of humor, whenever appropriate, is good leavening.

More Info About My Practice

I attended the University of Michigan as an undergraduate, and received my Ph.D. from Boston University .I've lived on both coasts and in the Midwest. I am married and have raised 3 children. My life experience gives me a perspective on clients' issues that is indispensable to the work I do. I love traveling, hiking, and music, and I love being a therapist.
