My Approach to Helping
Are you or a family member in emotional pain? Are you and your spouse or partner drifting apart because of a lack of a connection? Do you need help because of a traumatic experience in your past? Are the stresses of working in the Bay Area really starting to affect your relationships? I will begin work with you by providing a safe place for you to talk about your needs. We will work together to help you make positive changes in your life. I have a calming, caring, non-judgmental manner and will work with you to achieve the goals that are important to you. There are many ways to approach problems, and I will assess your needs and take into account which therapy method will match who you are as well as what will best benefit you. With children, I incorporate Play Therapy. With adults, I use both short-term (Solution Focused) and long-term therapy (Humanistic).

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Is your relationship in pain? Have you been devastated by infidelity? Do you wonder if you can ever forgive or trust your spouse / partner again? Are you wondering if you even want to try and make the effort? It takes time and it takes work for both of you, but you can rekindle that love you once felt for one another. It is difficult to forget the past, but I have seen and helped many couples move forward from this devastating blow to the relationship / marriage. Infidelity is generally a symptom of other long-term problems in the relationship: a loss of connection between the two of you. I will help you by first looking at the patterns in your communication and look at ways that those patterns can be changed. I will then help you identify the triggers that cause you to have a disconnect from your spouse / partner. In therapy, I will help you try to reestablish that connection. What is broken, can be mended.

My Therapy Focus

I want to help you live your life to the fullest. What is getting in the way of your doing that? The most important aspect of therapy is you and the work you put into therapy. I know that it takes courage to take that first step to make that call for an appointment and to commit to the work that it will take to make the changes in your life. Sometimes that means facing old issues, other times it means working on current issues such as your job, your marriage or relationship, or parenting your children. The second most important aspect of therapy is your relationship with the therapist. You need someone you can trust with your deepest thoughts and your deepest fears--someone who is interested in helping you live a better, more fulfilling life. I have a caring, non-judgmental manner, and nothing gives me more delight and satisfaction than seeing a client make positive changes in his or her life.
