My Approach to Helping
Can therapy help you?

If you are feeling lost and confused, I believe it can.

If you are willing to take an honest look at your life, I believe it can
.
If you desire to make change and build the life you desire, I believe it can.

You don't have to face the challenges of life alone. I view therapy as a place where you and I walk side by side as we explore the ghosts of your past and learn how to put them aside to create the future you desire.

It's time to Experience Your Life!

More Info About My Practice
My practice is focused on uncovering your strengths, building them up, and encouraging you to live the best life possible. This is accomplished by understanding the reality of your life, learning the stories that have affected how you live that life, and then creating new, constructive goals and directions from which to embrace a future that is built on strength and personal awareness. Through this process, our work together offers you the opportunity to connect to your core strength and experience life to the fullest.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

When a teen starts to realize that they are gay it can be a challenging moment in their life full of questions and confusion. Is it safe to tell my parents? Will my friends find out? Will I get bullied at school? How do I date? As a teen therapist and counselor I specialize in working with teens and their families during the coming out process. I help your teen to find their way through this maze of confusion and emotional turmoil; assisting them to find out who they are, how this new aspect of their identity will effect their life, and learning how to live a full and productive life as a member of the LGBT community. Coming out as gay is a very important moment for your teen and working with a counselor who specialize in working with gay teens can make the process easier and more open for your teenager and the entire family.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Choosing to go to therapy is not about being weak or flawed, it is actually about choosing strength and awareness. Therapy is a place to uncover the stories that have kept you from succeeding and then learn how to create the dreams and goals for the future you desire. I look at therapy as going in for a tune up with a professional who has the training and skills to help me gain better focus. In my life I have used therapy to manage the feelings of ending a relationship, as a place to explore my feelings after having lost a loved one, and as an incubator to focus myself toward the dreams and goals that I envisioned for my future. Having a place where you can talk over anything and not feel judged or shamed is one of the most amazing aspects of therapy. A good therapist will direct you toward a path of healing without holding judgement over your head. In my therapy practice, you are the expert on your life, after all you have been there for most of it. I use my professional training as a means to explore that life in a positive and non-judgemental fashion so that you can move toward the life you desire.
