My Approach to Helping
Providing a safe and confidential place for you to discuss your concerns is my primary goal. In our first appointment, you will have the opportunity to discuss what has prompted your decision to seek therapy, ask many questions and decide whether I am may be a good "fit" for you. I believe that trust in therapy is earned, not expected. I am empathic, direct and non-judgmental.
My approach to treatment is insight-oriented; I encourage clients to examine where their difficulties may have originated, and work collaboratively towards finding solutions. I believe that my job is to help people discover what they need or want in their lives, and to help identify the obstacles in their way.
I have extensive experience in the treatment of trauma issues, anxiety, depression, and relationship conflicts. I am a graduate of Northwestern University and George Washington University. I completed my training at Cambridge Hospital/Harvard Medical School and my Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Sheppard Pratt Hospital. I am currently part of the medical staff at the Washington, DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
