My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with several years of experience in the field of Mental Health Counseling. I have a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. For the past three years, I have worked with a non-profit organization providing services to clients with co-occurring dual diagnoses, with a majority of clients diagnosed with a mental health diagnosis and substance use. I have worked with clients in an outpatient and inpatient setting, school-based, supported housing, and substance abuse. I have experience working with a broad range of populations, including children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of presenting issues. Most of my experience is working with depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia/schizoaffective, trauma, domestic, and substance use.
I use a person-centered approach with consideration where you are in the therapeutic process, keeping close attention to your individual needs. My treatment approach is tailored to your needs with an understanding of your personal experiences, cultural identities, and overall life choices. I am a trauma-informed, emotionally focused counselor, and I primarily utilize evidenced-based approaches: cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, music therapy, and narrative therapy.
My hope is to walk this journey alongside you with hopes of uncovering the path to your healing.
