My Approach to Helping

I care deeply about clients and take my responsibility to you and my profession seriously. I am easy to work with, offering a space that is supportive and free of judgment, connecting at a logical and emotional level. I laugh with my clients, laugh at myself, keep it real, and sometimes let out a few choice words in a session. My clients are encouraged to do the same. I am a psychodynamically-trained counselor drawing other modalities to help clients strengthen their relationships with themselves and others.

I’ve been a spouse, a parent, a child to aging parents, an employee, and an employer. I’ve experienced relationship challenges, empty-nesting, career changes, the deaths of loved ones, and other major life events that can throw us into a tailspin. I know personally and professionally what it takes to put the pieces together again and get back on track, and I will use all of that wisdom, experience, and training to help you do the same.

My training covers a broad range, and I am passionate about working with individuals, couples, and families who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, effects of trauma from illness or loss, strained relationships, difficulties in family life, and career challenges.

More Info About My Practice

I am a psychodynamically trained licensed mental health professional currently accepting new adult, couple, and adolescent clients in person at my Tacoma office and virtually. I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to work with clients who may have personality disorders, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to work with anxiety and depression disorders, and specialized training to work with clients who have experienced big and little “T” traumas. I also have training in Gottman and attachment-focused modalities for couples.

My Role as a Therapist

To everyone, you look happy and appear to have it all under control. They don't see how challenging things are for you. Work, family, time pressures, money, and stress may have all taken a toll. You can feel powerless, helpless, angry, hurt, and emotionally drained when issues arise. You may be experiencing career challenges or struggling with couple or family issues, and you know you need to break the cycle.

Getting past the places that cause you pain is usually easier when you have someone to guide you. Together, we can find the strengths and unique gifts that only you possess. We will help figure out how to use them to make your life better than you ever imagined it could be! I am here to help.
