My Approach to Helping

I offer a specialized approach that focuses on helping clients develop psychological flexibility and self-compassion. Rather than trying to eliminate or suppress unwanted thoughts and emotions, we work together to accept them as a natural part of being human. I help my clients understand that struggling against their feelings can often intensify their distress. We will explore ways to be present with these emotions and thoughts without letting them dictate their actions or define their self-worth. My primary goal is to guide clients in answering this question: "What do you want your life to stand for?"

As a counselor with expertise in motivational interviewing and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), I offer a unique and effective process-based approach to address your emotional challenges. By guiding you towards greater self-awareness and helping you align your actions with your values, my aim is to support you in building a life worth living.

Taking the first step towards seeking counseling can be daunting. You may be going through challenging times, feeling overwhelmed, or simply seeking guidance for personal growth. Whatever brings you here, know that you are not alone, and I am here to offer my support. As a counselor, my mission is to create a safe and non-judgmental space.

My commitment to supporting veterans has allowed me to forge deep connections with those who have bravely served our country, guiding them through the challenges of post-military life and addressing issues related to trauma, readjustment, and mental health.

Working with children in foster systems has taught me the importance of creating a safe and nurturing environment for the most vulnerable members of our society. I have developed effective strategies to help these children navigate the complexities of their experiences and build a foundation for a brighter future.

Supporting displaced families has honed my ability to provide a sense of stability and understanding during times of upheaval, offering them a compassionate space to process their emotions and rebuild their lives.

In high-conflict divorce cases, my patience and determination come to the forefront as I guide individuals through the emotional turmoil and help them navigate complex legal and emotional issues. My aim is to empower my clients to make well-informed decisions while prioritizing their well-being and the well-being of their children.

My expertise in working with addictions allows me to provide a non-judgmental and supportive space for individuals to confront and overcome their challenges. My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to guide and facilitate you on a journey towards psychological flexibility and greater well-being. ACT is a modern form of cognitive-behavioral therapy that emphasizes mindfulness, acceptance, and values-based action to help individuals lead more fulfilling lives. Coupled with motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy, I offer an eclectic approach, which is important because it allows therapists to draw from a diverse range of therapeutic techniques and theories, tailoring treatment to suit each client's unique needs and promoting a more holistic and effective therapeutic experience..
