My Approach to Helping
I am a licensed mental health counselor with a seven-year career working with adolescents and adults facing many mental health challenges. The main focus of my training and education has been with adolescents, but I have experience working with children and adults as well. I spent several years working in psychiatric emergency services providing crisis intervention to children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a wide variety of emotional and behavioral health issues including substance abuse, psychosis, and behavioral issues. My experience includes supporting adults in an outpatient clinic who are coping with depression, substance abuse, and family issues. I have also worked directly in middle schools and highs Schools as a social worker and a school-based therapist providing counseling to students and their families. Having a knowledge of the social and emotional challenges that face students today, from anxiety and depression to substance use and social media, I can both educate and support healthy life skills that will quickly improve your well-being. These skills will continue to develop throughout our therapeutic relationship to support you in your daily life moving forward.
The effectiveness of the therapeutic relationship and your overall well-being are the main focus of our work together. Depending on the individual client’s needs, I can utilize a number of different clinical approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Working collaboratively in a supportive and safe environment you or your loved one can feel confident in my abilities to help you face and overcome challenges, learn new skills and, most importantly, develop and gain confidence in the innate abilities you have to manage and navigate your own life. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all type of service and I strive to remain fluid and adapt to fit your needs.
