My Approach to Helping
My practice philosophy is that everyone has good in them. I meet people where they are, find that good, and help them use it to improve their lives. When a client meets with me, they will find me non-judgmental, kind, and gentle. I like to meet people where they are at and use their strengths to help them move forward toward healing. This is a partnership so I will never force a client to discuss something that they don’t want to. Instead, by creating a safe place to step outside of their comfort zones I help them to confront their difficulties with my support.
In person-centred therapy, the goal is a partnership between client and therapist. When Carl Rogers created this modality, he based it on the idea of unconditional positive regard. All people have good in them. This is the overarching belief with which I approach the therapeutic relationship. Then we will discover and use your strengths to help you move through the difficulties that brought you in to see me.
If you are ready to address difficulties that are holding you back, I can provide a safe place to do that. I create an empathetic, nonjudgmental, strengths based, and supportive therapeutic relationship.
