My Approach to Helping
You're not here by mistake or coincidence. You've been taught your whole life that putting others ahead of yourself is noble. You may find it difficult to say no out of fear of disappointing others or to avoid the awkwardness of conflict. You may pour into others yet feel empty because you're not getting much in return. You may now find yourself in a constant battle with your own intrusive thoughts and struggling to connect with loved ones or peers. You may battle with anxiety andor excessive worry about not being good enough. You may find yourself feeling drained, taken advantage of, taken for granted, and resenting the people in your life. You may be the parent of an adolescent who is struggling, and you don't know what to do or how to help. You've come to the right place!
I am thrilled that you have decided to take a step towards finding and retaining peace in your everyday life. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 12 years of experience serving clients battling a variety of issues stemming from and related to depression, anxiety, adjusting to life's transitions, substance abuse, family, career, relationships, and more.
My area of expertise is relational issues- how you relate to the world around you. Whether it's at home, in the workplace, at school, with family and friends, or the community at large, we are always relating! I work best with adults and adolescents aged 11 and up.
My treatment approach can be described as eclectic, utilizing a combination of evidence-based techniques in an effort to address each individual client's needs. My primary focus is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe how we think directly impacts how we feel and how we feel affects how we act. We will work together to challenge maladaptive thought patterns and replace them with more positive, intentional, and productive thoughts. You will be equipped with the strategies needed to identify, define, and set healthy and appropriate boundaries in all settings.
