My Approach to Helping
Sara Focht believes in breaking down the stigma of mental health and going to therapy. We often don’t learn what it means to be in a healthy relationship or how to cope with everything that life throws our way. Sara is committed to holding a safe space for you to build on your strengths and overcome barriers. She believes in harnessing your strengths and resiliency to help you reach your unique goals. She is here to help you navigate issues, build upon what is working, and offer tools to help you move forward.
Sara is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from National University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from San Diego State University. She previously worked in an outpatient setting building her strengths working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Over many years in the field, Sara has learned to manage crisis situations and address an array of mental health struggles, including depression, anxiety, and trauma. She has substantial experience utilizing the Gottman Method to support couples in their relationships, including pre-marital counseling, rebuilding trust and connection after betrayals, and learning to change patterns of high conflict.
Sara has always been drawn towards helping others and through the field of counseling was able to find the perfect fit. She is grateful for the opportunity to share in the experiences of others and support them through difficult times, while celebrating their successes. Sara is constantly exploring and growing within this field and excited to bring the tools that she has learned into your lives.
