My Approach to Helping

Sometimes life goes in a direction you never expected. Maybe a relationship is ending, someone you love has died, or you're dealing with a health challenge. You might feel lost and unbalanced, as if the rug has been pulled out from under you.

These are examples of loss or "transitions," meaning you have to go from familiar circumstances to a new unfamiliar (and often unwelcome) reality. This can be discombobulating, heartbreaking, and like living inside a nightmare. It usually seems unfair that you ended up with something you didn't plan on and never wanted.

I believe everyone can cultivate inner resilience and healing. I'm here to help you learn new ways of coping while adjusting to your current situation. Then we will map out a plan to move you forward based on your own values and priorities.

My calling is to support you on your road to healing. I've been through enough of my own challenges to be intimately acquainted with the process. By combining professional training with personal experience, I will help you create a meaningful transformation.

More Info About My Practice

I am honored to work with adults, adolescents, couples, and families who are going through difficult times. Grief and loss topics typically come up, since the grieving process relates to many different kinds of losses. We can work through bereavement, job loss, health challenges, or the end of a relationship, just to give a few examples.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

While sustaining many losses over my lifetime so far, I always knew I wanted to help people. Pursuing a therapy career seemed like a perfect fit. But it wasn't until my son's death several years ago that I recognized my true calling. With a lot of work and support I was able to transform my heartbreak into a mission of healing.

And so I chose to make this my life's work going forward. My empathy, patience, and understanding combine with learned strategies for inhabiting reality. I am truly honored to hear your story and help you design your own path to wellness.
