My Approach to Helping

My approach is very respectful and collaborative. I encourage each person to deeply listen to their own unique truths. Together, we explore how to translate your inner experiences so that your communication and your actions may feel more congruent. Your truth and your heart matter!

We review repeating patterns to see what you now choose to keep and what you are now ready to release. Communication is explored so that you may learn how to better receive and, in turn, be received! We look to how you listen and how you communicate. Creative conflict resolution is encouraged and practiced in the safety of therapy. As clear communication is shared and received, healing dialogues can become possible.

I work with people who are seeking healthy, loving communication and connections in their lives. I help people who desire a greater sense of partnership with themselves and their loved ones. Conflict can be a source of creative compromise and negotiation rather than a "I Win-You Lose" dynamic.

I enjoy working with people during Life Transitions. These may include separation, divorce, new marriage, graduations, preparation for retirement and quality of life in retirement, beginning new careers, unemployment, death of a loved one, etc. Some other issues include depression, anxiety, creative conflict resolution, infidelity, grief and loss, chronic health issues, poor self-esteem to name a few.

My practice is richly diverse and includes people from a variety of different life styles, traditional and non-traditional, ethnicities, sexual orientations and cultures. All are welcome.

My Role as a Therapist

As a therapist, I see mayself as having many, many roles. Initially, I am the history taker as I learn of the person's early foundation. From her or his history, one is often able to find golden threads that connect to their the current life concern. At times, I am a gentle teacher with my suggestions of new perspectives, concepts and behaviors. I am a sacred witness to their inner process and a respectful coach as they strive to express and try on new feelings, ideas and behaviors. I am a safe guide who respects their pacing as well as their need for depth, and then recovery from depth. I am the keeper of secrets and private musings. When needed, I am the lender of courage. I am the mirror that can accurately reflect with empathy and kindness. I am a guide to help them light their own illumination. I am the role model that shares and repeats as needed, "It's okay to be human!" I am the holder of hope as they practice becoming that which was merely a dream.
