My Approach to Helping

Hi. I'm Dr. Rosa--or Dr. Thomas, or simply Rosa--however, you're most comfortable relating to me.

A human being walks into my office, and their distress is palpable and usually quiet. It may show up as a stream of unbearable thoughts, an irritable confusion about what’s happening with a friend or a lover, or a coworker, or a hardening sense of loneliness.

That stress robs awareness of what happens inside. It hollows us out. What got us there and finding the route to well-being is where I come in.

In my work, I focus on treating anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder and providing tools and skills for highly sensitive people.

I practice collaboratively as an integrative psychologist and so draw on EMDR, cognitive-behavioral therapy, sensorimotor psychotherapy, clinical hypnosis, and peripheral biofeedback (HeartMath) to quell overused paths through the body, shift awareness and state, and help your brain heal itself.

You deserve to live life on your own terms and not simply be who others want you to be. Let's talk and see about fit. I provide a 20-minute complimentary consultation so you can get to know me and how I work.

More Info About My Practice

You no longer have to hide or pretend.

Good therapy makes hard places visible, and unbearable places forgivable. With me, your wounds are
held sacred. They are the secrets you no longer have to hold on your own; you no longer have to stuff
the rage behind excessive work, or bravado, or that stoicism enshrined in some stony self-reliance.

It seems like there’s always time for pain, doesn’t it? So must there be time for healing—if you’ll allow it.

The path to inner tranquility is rooted in pain. Here, now, as you weigh your choices, the path from pain
to peace depends on you, on your decision to do something different, on your decision to risk changing
life as you feel it for a sense of something different among your emotions.

You can choose to live with a fixed mindset that you are all you ever were or ever will be, that suffering
is all you’ll ever understand.

Or you can not only live your life, you can savor it.

I foster and value the therapeutic alliance that prompts renewal, recovery, healing. And so, I value the sacred art of listening.

Some of you may be more comfortable simply talking. Some of you may seek more structure and a formal path to problem-solving. Some of you may need the silences that help you hear and reflect on what happens inside. Working together, we'll find the stage and voice with which your soul sings, and relieve suffering.
