My Approach to Helping
Everyone deserves a compassionate understanding of themselves. Therapy can be used as a navigational tool to assist you in coping with uncertainties, challenges, feelings of stagnation, and cyclical internal conflict. Using a positive, nonjudgmental, safe environment I hope to help you gain insight into your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and build the emotional tools to help you find your inner balance and achieve a general sense of wellness.
Using a collaborative eclectic approach therapy, we can draw from a number of counseling theories to work towards your therapeutic goals, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, humanistic theory, and mindfulness practice. Taking a mind-body approach to your treatment, we also offer in-house Psychiatry and Acupuncture.
More Info About My Practice
I have over a decade of experience working with creative professionals, adolescents, and athletes coping with issues including anxiety, depression, relationship dysfunction and performance potential. Specifically, I will help you reflect on your emotional expectations, mend fractured relationships, and foster resilience.
In addition to my counseling experience, I have assumed many different roles in the world of martial arts including coaching, competing, and conducting workshops and women's self-defense seminars. I also have a profound passion for the ocean and have been surfing and teaching others to ride waves for over a decade.
Through these two passions and my professional experience, I hope to bring a different perspective to our counseling sessions that can result in new insights as we work to promote positive change and self-reliance.
My Role as a Therapist
My approach to therapy is extremely collaborative. We as a team (Therapist and Client) work together to uncover what patterns of thought and behavior have you feeling so stuck. Utilizing a Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach combined with Attachment theory, together we can look to uncover where this thought process may have originated from, and why we react to it how we do. Through gaining a greater knowledge of self we can then work to change these unwanted thought and behavior patterns to help you achieve a greater sense of day to day ease.
