My Approach to Helping
My style of counseling is direct, while still holding space for compassion and empathy. I honor the time, courage, and resources it takes to come to counseling by respecting my clients enough to talk to them honestly, even when the message is hard to hear, instead of just saying what they may want to hear.
People tend to come to therapy because they want to change but haven't figured out how yet. I am here as a supportive guide for my clients as they work on changing themselves for the better.
I particularly focus on concepts of differentiation (building a strong inner self that is not dependent on others as a main source of validation) and mindfulness (being aware of yourself in a curious and kind way).
Much of my work is influenced by Family Systems Theory, Internal Family Systems Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Theory.
I aim to provide a space of empathy, support, and safety to help you face the discomfort of change and growth. I want to help each client interact with their actions and inner experience honestly and compassionately, with the ultimate goal being joy. Please call to schedule our first meeting, I look forward to it.
