My Approach to Helping
Rafiah Maxie is a mother, a licensed clinical social worker, and the founder of Goal Achieved, LLC.
"As a 22-year old psychotherapist, I know the stages of change we are all faced with! My approach is client-centered, goal-focused, and empathic in nature. You are your BEST advocate and I welcome you to this new beginning." Rafiah believes that "emotional and mental pain is not something that should be hidden away and never spoken about. There is truth in your pain... there is growth in your pain... let's work with it together. "
After the tragic suicide of her 19-year old son, Jamal Clay, in 2020, Rafiah felt compelled to continue his legacy and share his story with others impacted by suicide and trauma. Her advocacy and education has led her to be trained in trauma focused therapy, grief therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
Rafiah Rafiah was featured in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Southtown, Chicago Crusader, NPR-Science Friday edition (produced by the Kaiser Health Foundation), WVON 1690am, the Black News Channel, and will be a presenter at the 2022 American Association of Suicidology Conference in Chicago, Illinois.
Looking forward to the process... excited about the change.
