My Approach to Helping

I believe in transformation - yours (and mine), and that the draw towards the good is irresistible. I want to know your story, how you tell it, and where you hope it will go. As your unfoldment happens (and, yes, it's always messy), it can be helpful to have a partner in this incredibly difficult yet doable work. As you move from less happy to more happy, you'll have an ally. Give me a relatively positive thought that your mind can embrace, and I will run with it. Calls are typically returned within two hours.

More Info About My Practice

Identity matters and how you see yourself can make all the difference in the world. Your sessions will have a sanctuary-like feel - a quiet place where you can explore your experience, and breathe a little easier, for just a bit, before going back into the world.

I have twenty plus years experience as a therapist using mindfulness, a humanistic approach, CBT, the Enneagram & narrative therapy.

I'm a diversely seasoned practitioner. In addition to my experience as a therapist - doing individual and group psychotherapy - I have extensive experience with comprehensive clinical assessments, crisis screening, and clinical supervision. My practice serves individuals who struggle with mood symptoms, thought disorders, the after-effects of trauma, impulse-control problems, and addiction issues. My practice likewise serves individuals who struggle with relationship issues, issues of identity and major life transitions. My practice is LGBT sensitive. I have experience with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Seeking Safety, Internal Family Systems, and am certified as an Enneagram instructor. Regardless of modality, however, the use of mindfulness is the cornerstone of my practice.

I'm licensed as an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) in Illinois & North Carolina. I'm also a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS).
