My Approach to Helping
Has your marriage or partnership been traumatized by infidelity? Are you or your partner struggling with pornography use, online sexually inappropriate relationships, repeated sexual indiscretions, sexting, use of prostitutes or secretive behavior so that your life and relationships feel completely out of control?
Welcome. I'm Nan Long, owner of RelationSkills counseling. I am an experienced therapist who works with individuals and couples in the areas of sexuality, sex addiction, and betrayal trauma induced by sexually compulsive behaviors of spouses or significant others.
I offer a fifteen minute telephone consultation at no charge so that you and I may determine together whether my skills and approach are well-suited to your situation. I am committed to providing the most compassionate, confidential and respectful therapy for people. You're welcome to contact me, and I will call you promptly; usually within a few hours, and always within twenty-four hours.
I initially trained at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota as a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist and helped people become tobacco-free. I continued my education at Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology. I obtained my Certified Sex Addiction Therapist certification while completing my residency at the Center for Relational Recovery in Leesburg, Virginia. I am certified in Brené Brown's Daring Way™ program, which focuses on the topics covered in Brené’s books, including courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy.
