My Approach to Helping
I am a compassionate and collaborative therapist who works with adult individuals, young adults, and couples. I am passionate about the field of Psychotherapy and feel grateful that deep human connection is a fundamental component of the work. I use my ability to be deeply present with myself and with others; to attune to people's needs, assess essential issues, and provide reparative experiences based on attachment issues, arousal regulation, and developmental neuroscience to rewire the neural pathways from old originally wounded relational template. I believe that fulfilling relationships are the primary ingredient for growth and healing.
More Info About My Practice
I have extensive training in couple therapy and work with partners who want to enhance a healthy relationship, to those who wonder if their relationship can survive. I strongly believe that you can create the relationship that you want, regardless of your past trauma, difficult childhood, or current circumstances.
Rather than viewing your struggles as pathological, I see breakdowns in a couple as a normal process that can provide the opportunity and the motivation to learn the rules of a good relationship. You will be given new tools and you will learn new strategies that will help you to better understand each other's emotional wounds, and how to heal each other; to create the relationship that you have always wanted; one that will promote respect, trust, and love.
Individuals often come to me seeking some kind of change; whether personal, professional or in their relationships. You may be experiencing depression or anxiety or having difficulty working through anger, shame, or grief. I use an emotion-centered, accelerated experiential approach to individual therapy called Dynamic Emotion Focused Therapy (DEFT), to help you achieve your goals as quickly as possible.
People often perceive their emotions as the source of their problem, but problems related to feelings are generally caused by the unconscious channeling of them in ways that cause harm to the self and to others. We will work to address the obstacles that restrict emotional freedom; which will restore spontaneity, intimacy. and will increase the possibility of personal options.
