My Approach to Helping
Hello and welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois, and I’m so glad you’re here! I believe that therapy, along with practices such as exercise, eating well, mindfulness and human connections, can play a meaningful role in our overall well-being. Our perception becomes our reality, and lack of awareness can allow our perception to run amuck, sparking untrue and negative thoughts, causing us a great deal of suffering. Depression, anxiety, PTSD, stress, as well as many other mental health and life conditions shade how we think of and relate to ourselves and the world around us. When left unchecked, the negative thought patterns strengthen, and eventually we incorporate them into our belief systems, where they feed into our fears and self-doubts. Therapy can illuminate erroneous and untrue thoughts and negative thought patterns, help us make sense of our inner experiences, aid in acceptance of challenges and situations that seem unacceptable, guide us in observing our minds without being entangled with our thoughts, and invite new, more objective perspectives. I work in partnership with my clients to identify and evaluate the presenting issues, determine the most important and relevant goals, and highlight and build strengths and supports. We come up with a treatment plan completely tailored to each person's specific needs and goals. Together, my clients and I develop and implement solutions and strategies to get them feeling better. Progress is assessed regularly, to ensure clients are able to see their growth as they become their best selves.
