My Approach to Helping
Hi! My name is Melissa and I would love the chance to hear your story and walk alongside you on your journey. As a therapist, I aim to be in your corner, creating a safe place to help you process, think outside the box, and feel supported. I believe many factors impact who you are today (such as your upbringing or culture and relationship influences), but they do not have to determine your future. While counseling with me, we can get through your concerns together, focusing additionally on your hopes and dreams for the future, in lieu of the things weighing you down and causing you pain.
I use an integrative therapeutic approach because I believe every individual is unique and requires their own specific treatment plan. I say that I tend to work with the "strong" individuals who hold it together for everyone else but are having a tough time asking for help and need support navigating mental health challenges related to anxiety, recurring unhealthy relationships, and unhealed trauma. I regularly see clients (individuals, couples, and families) transform and find a balance between pursuing their dreams and being there for others, navigating life's ups and downs better than they ever have.
Finding the right therapist is important and can feel overwhelming so know that I offer a free, 10 minute phone consultation to alleviate some fears, discuss your goals, answer any questions, and to see if we are a great match for your needs. Whether you are new to therapy or not, I personally believe going to therapy is one of the strongest things you can do!
