My Approach to Helping
My first job is to listen with an open mind. Together we will explore the obstacles and challenges that are showing up in your situation. If toxic relationships, boundaries, co-dependency, sexual dissatisfaction, or problems with intimacy are on your mind, we can create a plan address this. Ultimately healthy relationships are vital to our overall well being, lets help you achieve that.
I meet with individuals or couples as needed. Multiple office locations or Telehealth is available.
It is my passion to help people learn about themselves and develop skills with better communication, independence and self compassion. You will find me regularly improving my knowledge in areas of Sex and Couples therapy as my belief is that a healthy sense of self, sexuality and relationship are key to a healthy well being.
My approach integrates several proven principles of therapy. My natural lean is towards Imago, IFS (Internal Family Systems), and Attachment Theory. These approaches may sound familiar if you have read books like "Getting the Love you Want" by Harville Hendrix or "Attached" by Levine & Heller. I find myself reaching for these with a variety of clients. Aspects of these theories are also included in the popularized theory, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) which you may know from books like "Hold Me Tight" and "Love Sense" by Sue Johnson. Having recently completed the EFT Externship I find many components helpful for my couples clients.
CBT and DBT skills also show up regularly in my practice when clients prefer to have a more structured program with assignments or homework to practice.
