My Approach to Helping
**Currently Accepting New Clients**
I view therapy as a space for exploration, genuine connection, and creating meaning with clients. I recognize that this process requires vulnerability, and I am mindful of the power and privilege I hole as a therapist. I am committed to providing you with a safe enough space where you feel emotionally supported to share your stories, engage in reflection, and align yourself with your preferred way of being. I work with individuals, couples, and families and offer a free consultation to see if I am the right therapist to support you through this journey.
As a therapist, I am here to walk alongside you through this often overwhelming and seldomly linear process. My approach is grounded in authenticity, collaboration, and intention. As someone who grew up in Barbados, a predominantly Black developing country in the Caribbean, I observed that most of our ways of being and existing in relationships contrasted what I saw portrayed as the norm in Western media. I was intrigued by these observations as to how people live and relate to each other in different ways, as members of various systems. As a therapist, I strive to support others in accessing alternative perspectives and behaviours to improve both your relationships and personal well-being.
As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) my intention is to engage with you in responsive, and culturally humble ways. I believe that everyone possesses an innate wisdom and expertise in their personal experiences, and my role as a therapist is to support you in recognizing and utilizing these strengths in a way that aligns with your situational context and desires.
I work from a relational and systemic lens. This means I am attuned to differences in power and privilege and invite you to consider how the broader systems in your life, such as cultures, communities, and relationships, influence your experiences. To do this, I engage in anti-oppressive and trauma-informed practice. I collaborate with clients from a variety of relationship configurations, identities, backgrounds, and desires using an integration of narrative, dialogic, emotion(ally)-focused, and solution focused therapeutic approaches.
I recognize that psychotherapy is one of several pathways to healing. Thankfully, we live in a time where mental health and wellness are becoming more of a priority. Schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if I am the right fit for your journey.
