My Approach to Therapy

My approach to therapy is rooted in the process of change. Change can be difficult but is possible with the right assistance and researched methods. My aim is to facilitate a therapeutic process that allows clients- to realize their own strengths and capabilities, view their issues from a new perspective and have a renewed hope as they begin their journey towards a brighter tomorrow. I acknowledge the strength it takes for anyone to reach out to a stranger in the face of personal struggle and as such I make it my personal endeavor from the time I first communicate with you on the phone to provide the comfort and empathy that is needed in order for you to feel safe and empowered to book an appointment to meet with me.

My Practice & Services

I aim to close the gap on waiting lists for counseling and therapy in Durham Region. First appointment offered within 2 days, with evening and weekend appointments available for your convenience. My practice specializes in treating all relationship issues along with mood, and anxiety disorders, and stress management. My private practice is located in south Ajax at the lake where I often incorporate the outdoor environment as a way to regulate emotions. I also integrate pet therapy into the journey I take with clients as a way to provide comfort, humor and joy to those with heavy hearts.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Have you seen a professional therapist in the past only to become frustrated because you felt like you were being judged, or even worse, did not feel comfortable enough to open up to them? Finding a therapist that is the right fit for you is crucial. Every human being is unique which means the right fit will depend on you as an individual. There are various factors that you should look for when choosing a therapist- including their education and expertise, experience, and approaches they use in dealing particularly with the issue you are facing. But more than skills and training, the therapeutic alliance or relationship between therapist and client is the key to growth and change. Ask yourself, is this professional someone you connect with, someone who is supportive, warm, understanding, empathetic, and is willing to work with you in setting goals? If you have answered yes to these variables then chances are you will be more apt to have a successful outcome in therapy.
