My Approach to Helping
Life is hard, and we all need help sometimes. Mary Cook holds a core belief that people are good at heart and capable of making the right choices for themselves. Simultaneously, people need people. Mary also believes in the importance of being your true self in order to lead the most fulfilling life possible. She strives to provide a warm, safe environment, characterized by unconditional acceptance, for change to take place. Mary is passionate about helping people through the difficult times of life that call upon all of one’s vulnerability and courage. She strongly believes counseling is a uniquely powerful tool for helping people develop true self-acceptance, discover healthy self-worth, improve relationships, enhance overall well-being, heal old wounds, and grow and fulfill untapped potential.
Mary Cook has been involved in helping and supporting people for the past 8 years, when she began mentoring at-risk youth. That interest led her to seek an advanced degree in human development and family studies. Mary has experience working with people of all ages to overcome anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and relationship issues. She also has experience with adolescents and families struggling with family relationships, parenting, and boundaries.
