My Approach to Helping
I utilize an approach in therapy in which you are considered to be the expert in your own life. I believe that you are trying to do your best at any given moment based on the information you have available at the time. I utilize a system of exploration that is aimed at discovering the connection between your thoughts and feelings and how this impacts your behaviors and consequences. I believe that all behaviors have consequences; both negative and positive. I believe it is important to develop an awareness of how the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical aspects of your being contribute to balance and wholeness. These are the fundamental elements from which I work to help you achieve the goals you wish to accomplish. I base my work on three key principles: acceptance, compassion, and trust.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I believe that being a therapist is my life work...a work that is about helping others heal while providing hope. I love having the opportunity to provide an unbiased and nonjudgmental environment in which clients are able to express themselves and grow in a direction that is important to them. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to assist others on their path to recovery. It is truly an honor to develop the therapeutic relationship and join with my clients in a deep, validating, and meaningful way.
My Guiding Ethical Principles
My primary ethical principle can be summed up as "Do the next right thing." I view myself as an advocate for others and believe that my role is to help others. I am very conscientious about the therapeutic relationship.
