My Approach to Helping
Do you have stress in your life? Are you depressed or anxious? Has life taken a sudden and unexpected turn and you are struggling to cope?, stress, and sadness can all take a toll on your quality of life. We are pulled in so many directions that it can be hard to find the time to work on ourselves. Together we will navigate life changes, improve your sense of well-being, discover a sense of purpose, and reconnect with what brings you happiness.
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that includes creativity. I have 16 years of clinical experience working with people of all ages and teaching and supervising graduate art therapy students. My goal with with everyone I work with is simple, I want you to remember who you are. You have inner wisdom, confidence and strengths that can become hard to access in a challenging world. Therapy can be one of the most important experiences of your life.
Your first session will consist of talking about why you want to find help and learning about what I have to offer. Together, we will come up with a plan that involves creating some form of artwork designed to help you think about your life and issues. No skill is required. When you have finished a piece of artwork I will ask you questions along the lines of how you feel about the artistic process and what thoughts or memories you may have had while you were working. Art therapy is art with a purpose and that purpose is understanding yourself better. The symbols, colors, and imagery in art exercises can bring the wisdom of your inner self into view. You will understand yourself better than ever before. and learn to hear and trust the inner You.
I am here for you. I will meet you where you are at emotionally, I will listen to your story, your struggles, your memories. Together, we will sort through your pain and confusion and bring your world into focus through creativity and discussion. Art therapy can be life changing. Contact me today; we will begin an exciting journey together.
