My Approach to Helping
As an eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapist, I work with adults who have experienced trauma, anxiety, or who are in the middle of a difficult life transition. Often, my clients have experienced moments where something was ‘too much, too fast, ’ and ever since then, things haven’t felt quite right.
EMDR work focuses on alleviating the distress associated with traumatic experiences. This approach is based on how the brain stores and processes information related to traumatic events, moving memories from the part of our brain that thinks “This is still happening right now” to the part that thinks “that happened, and I am safe now".
