My Approach to Helping
Linda Lopez is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has 9 years of experience in the mental health field. Linda's past work experience includes working in private practice, inpatient settings, and higher education. She works primarily with older adolescents and adults, and also has experience working with the LGBTQ+ community. Linda is skilled and experienced in working with individuals who struggle with anxious thoughts/feelings, depressed mood, body image, life transitions, interpersonal conflict and communication issues, boundary issues, and shame. She also has a passion for helping clients address many types of unresolved trauma. Linda completed both her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Master of Arts (MA) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Stephen F. Austin State University. As a counselor, Linda’s goal is to individualize treatment and meet clients where they are at. She uses a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and cognitive processing therapy (CPT) to help clients change and challenge their unhelpful thinking styles, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help clients increase their psychological flexibility, as well as meditation and mindfulness-based techniques. Outside of the office you can find Linda spending time with her family, including her two German shepherds, exploring the outdoors, and trying new food! She hopes you choose to reach out so you can work together. Linda understands that sharing and being vulnerable is not always easy and would be honored to have you trust her with things that are heavy on your heart.
