My Approach to Helping
Trained in the Tomatis method with Dr. Alfred Tomatis, I use my expertise in auditory training techniques to provide in-depth evaluations with the scope of determining if these can be an appropriate treatment. I individualize recommendations based upon the most appropriate auditory processing training for each child or adult. These assessments take into consideration in-depth sensory processing, language processing, attention and cognitive abilities. I integrate Dr. Tomatis' approach-based Listening with Counseling, Movement or Neurofeedback programs to facilitate learning, improve processing speed, focus, attention, behavior and emotional regulation, and expand potential in children and adults, including peak performance.
In office and home Tomatis-Effect Listening Programs are available on an individual basis as required by some circumstances or for out-of-town clients.
In addition, I offer quantitative EEG recording and sw LORETA Neurofeedback and Interactive Metronome programs to improve learning, well-being and behavior.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
It is important to closely consider what you need help with and what avenues could be available to attain your goals while choosing the most suited practitioner for yourself. When considering a therapist you would like ask a few questions, for instance: what is your area of expertise? How long have you worked in this area? What groups have you served predominantly: children, teens or adults? Have you had additional training in your field? How long have you worked with the approaches you are mainly offering? Are there any publications to support your own work results?
At Dr. Sacarin Listening & Neurodevelopment Center, my goal is to provide:
- medication-free interventions
- brief & efficient intervention
- solid and long-lasting effects
If I find that upon our free 30-min phone consultation my treatment approaches are not suited for you, I will immediately let you know and suggest appropriate referrals. For the past 25 years I have networked with a variety of physicians and health practitioners in the greater Seattle area and therefore able to make suggestions for other more useful approacheshealth providers, when needed. However, if our Full Initial Consultation findings suggest that you would be suited for one of my treatment approaches we can discuss during that meeting goals and a specific intervention plan for your purposes.
Auditory Processing and Sensory Processing Disorders including sensory sensitivities such as Misophonia, tactile and vestibular sensitivities can be reflected in impulsive or shy behavior and low self esteem or in slow processing speed. The method developed by Dr. Alfred Tomatis is a sound stimulation approach which uses neuro-plasticity (trains the brain-ear connection) affecting auditory, vestibular and other sensory-motor processing.
As one of the fewer than 6 practitioners in N-America trained with Dr. Alfred Tomatis himself and as a researcher in the field of auditory processing approaches I incorporate counseling and sound stimulation training into an individualized & complementary program whether I work with a child, adolescent or an adults. My training in child & family psychology with special expertise in Sensory-Motor Development and in q EEG swLORETA Neurofeedback position me to draw from all these areas when working with my clients towards their unique, specific goals.
For the past 25 years, I have served in a full-time center along my team both: children families and adults from the Seattle and Bellevue area. Others have travelled to us from afar.
We currently have a location for consultationsevaluations in Blaine WA as part of a project with a colleague located in Vancouver, BC - serving families and adults from the greater Vancouver area.
