My Approach to Helping
I am an existential, humanistic practitioner with a focus on finding meaning in both your suffering and success. I am well-rounded, non-judgmental, empathetic and analytical and can draw from a number of therapy models depending on your particular need. My approach to therapy is dialogue based and very conversational. I don't offer solutions or quick advice but, once I get to know you better, I can let you know how I'm experiencing you and offer a few theories as to what I think might be happening. I can also offer tools, techniques and readings you can use outside therapy to help you better understand yourself and improve your situation.
In addition to dialogue-based therapy, I also offer E.M.D.R. as one of my practice modalities.
More Info About My Practice
I offer a 30 minute complimentary introductory meeting to potential new clients. My services are reimbursable, to some degree, by most insurance providers as an out-of-network practitioner. I recommend you check your coverage before we begin working together and I am happy to provide you with the information you need to make an inquiry.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
The biggest predictor of therapy success is your relationship with your therapist. As a client, this means feeling like your therapist "gets" you. If you feel like your therapist is off track in relation to what you are trying to convey or you feel misunderstood, that's probably a sign that you need to keep looking for the right fit. Typically, you should have a sense of this within one to two sessions.
