My Approach to Helping

Khalilah is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the states of Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. Khalilah is passionate about assisting her clients with improving their quality of life and daily functioning during the most delicate and vulnerable episodes in their lives. Sheassists adults, couples, and families with developing coping strategies, mental health/interpersonal skills, and techniques to mitigate life stressors and mental health symptomology that negatively impact personal functioning and quality of life. Khalilahhasalways known that her role in the mental health industry was a “calling” not just a choice Khalilah is a trauma treatment expert and focuses on effective treatment for those who have endured sexual, physical, emotional, childhood, and domestic abuse. Khalilah utilizes evidence-based psychotherapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT) motivational interviewing (MI), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and solution-focused therapy.However, Khalilah would consider herself to be an Integrative Psychotherapist, which means that Khalilah utilizes a variety of orientations and therapies according to the client’s individual needs.Khalilah is known for her warm, relaxed, and comfortable approach to counseling. Her approach involves genuine caring, acceptance, and non-judgment.Khalilah also works with clients from a strengths-based, positive, and affirming perspective. Khalilah has been providing mental health treatment and services including program coordination/management, psychotherapy, coaching, and case management for 19 years. Khalilah specializes in treating individuals with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance use disorders), and unresolved emotional issues.Khalilah’s therapeutic techniques include individual counseling for personal and emotional growth, creating more meaning and purpose in one’s life; and include counseling to increase self-esteem and self-empowerment. Khalilah received an Associate’s degree in Arts and Sciences, Magna Cum Laude, from John Tyler Community College Chester, VA; a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology, from Virginia State University Petersburg, VA; and a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University Richmond, VA.Khalilah is Certified as Trauma Treatment Specialist (CTTS).
