I utilize play therapy, creative expression, and art as interventions to create a safe and nurturing environment for your child. I work closely with parents and siblings in order to promote change that lasts far beyond therapy sessions. I also offer parenting coaching to help decrease power struggles and meltdowns and increase moments of connection.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
As Tao Te Ching once said, "Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom." Often times we are experts at observing others. We are able to pinpoint their flaws, destructive behaviors and the obstacles in their life that prevent them from experiencing love and connection.
It is less common for us to know the same details about our own life. Taking the same time to process our own lives is a sign of strength. As Brene Brown once said, "Vulnerability is the birthplace of connection and the path to the feeling of worthiness. If it doesn't feel vulnerable, the sharing is probably not constructive."
