My Approach to Helping

Scheduling the first therapy session can be difficult. Getting started is half the battle. Perhaps you have struggled with therapy in the past, or maybe, it's your first time, and you're nervous or anxious about what to expect. I'm here to help you navigate those feelings and help turn the therapeutic process into one you'll enjoy. I believe each client is unique and enter each session with an open mind and willingness to meet you wherever you are. You are the expert in your own life experiences, and I am here to provide the strategies and tools to help you help yourself.

I work with adults trying to make their way toward a more or less stable and satisfying life, often with some bumps and wrong turns along the way. Have you ever asked yourself any of the following questions?

(1) What should I do with my life?
(2) What kind of person do I want to be?
(3) How am I like my parents and other family members, and how am I different?
(4) What do I value most, and what values do I choose as the guideposts for living my life?
(5) What kind of work would I most like to do, and is that path available to me?
(6) What are the qualities I most want to find in a potential life partner?

If so, I'd love to help you make sense of the problems and challenges you have faced and offer a setting where you can feel confident to create your own solutions. My areas of focus include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, substance use, gender and sexual identity exploration, academic and work-related stress, dating relationships, familial dysfunction, and trauma.

As a therapist, I have worked in residential and private practice settings and helped individuals develop knowledge and skills to feel better about their abilities to handle difficult situations. This is taught using a variety of methods. Are you a visual learner? Let's draw it out! Do you like playing games? Let's create and play! Articles and worksheets more your style? My library is full! We'll work together to find what's best for you.

In between long walks with my rescue dog, Sophie, I offer a flexible schedule to best meet your needs. Let's create a plan to get you back on track to where you want to be. Please contact me today to learn more about my services and schedule an appointment.

I look forward to working with you and starting an adventure toward healing.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

What do I love most about being a psychotherapist? Seeing you change for the better as we work together to accomplish your goals, one by one. Change doesn't happen overnight but I truly believe that, if you're ready and willing to put in the work and trust the process, it can happen. And when it does? The results are everything.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Many individuals are hesitant about going to therapy after they've had a negative therapy experience. I promise that not all therapists are the same. Don't let one bad apple ruin any possible growth that is waiting to happen. Am I saying that I'm the best therapist for you? No, not at all. But, let's see if I can help change your mind about the therapy experience. And, if it turns out that I?m not right for you? I'm happy to provide referrals because, at the end of the day, I want you to receive the best care by whatever means possible.
