My Approach to Helping
If you are struggling to manage your feelings, make desired changes in your life, maintain positive relationships, feeling unhappy, anxious or depressed, then psychotherapy can be a very powerful way to create change and alleviate emotional pain. People are not always aware of why they are behaving in certain ways, repeating patterns or feeling distressed. Psychotherapy offers an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of one's thoughts, feelings and behaviors. By providing a safe and thoughtful environment, clients and I collaborate to identify underlying issues that may be causing conflicts or interfering with the quality of life.
Each client determines the focus of therapy and desired goals. It may be to deal with an immediate crisis, to concentrate on a particular problem or to address more general long term difficulties. I approach psychotherapy as a process that can help people gain greater insight and self-awareness. As clients develop a better understanding of themselves and others, they are able to make healthier choices, find new ways of coping, gain a better sense of self, and live a more meaningful life.
