My Approach to Helping
This is what I believe: my goal is to ensure that, as my client, you are able to strive to live the best life possible, each and every day. I don't believe in "endless" therapy where you aren't able to determine what direction your treatment is headed or whether you are actually getting better. I believe my role is to help you clarify how you want to feel and act. I believe that as we select and undergo the right treatments for you, my role becomes one of support and coaching along the way. And finally, I believe in you. You already have what it takes to face your problems and it's my job to help identify your strengths and help you face your challenges. You can do this. I can help.
More Info About My Practice
I believe in novel approaches to therapy, and there are many approaches out there. However, you and I will only use those which have been academically/professionally researched to be effective. I am drawn towards therapies using scientific approaches and measurement. This is why I chose to pursue a doctorate in psychology where i could master brain science as it relates to emotion and behavior. Clinical psychology is a dynamic field which is changing every day and I think your problems deserve the best interventions possible.
I also believe that your problems are specific to you. You deserve more than a "cookie cutter" approach to your problems. So, using tried-and-true methods you and I tailor exercises ("Commitments to Growth") with activities you can practice and where you can process your own thoughts between sessions in your own way. This approach is the only one I have used which most clients actually beg for homework!
It's actually very exciting to experience the feeling of overcoming your mental health issues and, in the end, being able to live the best life possible no matter what you are facing.

I am so fortunate to be in this field. It is a supreme pleasure to watch my clients begin to recover a sense of well-being, being able to cope and overcome the mental health challenges life can bring. I can offer you skills and experience but the most important thing I can offer is hope. In the fight to live a better life, you may be 'bruised' but you are not broken!
