My Approach to Helping
You can grow old together. Working with couples is my specialty. For 22 years my approach to counseling is interactive and collaborative with a particular focus on creating the unique perspective you need in order to feel confident enough to explore, grow, and change in the ways that you choose. In a world of diminishing privacy, there is now more than ever, a great value in knowing that what is said in the counseling session is completely private and confidential. The freedom that brings is invaluable. I use an eclectic counseling approach that is informed by EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy, Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. Each session helps you reconnect with your partner, communicate more effectively, navigate confrontation, recover from fights or disagreements, and get your relationship back on track.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I never underestimate someones ability to change and I love being a counselor because I see the power of change in people everyday. It's OK to ask for help...not always easy but ok none the less. There is usually some worry about beginning counseling..."Does it really help? Why can't I fix this myself? Will others think I'm crazy or weak?" These are normal concerns. I enjoy putting people at ease with a kind, warm, and friendly approach. Seeing someone get comfortable with the process of counseling so that they can make changes they can live with, manage difficult situations without making them worse, feel a new sense of freedom by exploring their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and ultimately feel like I am their advocate with their best interests at heart is a true gift.
